Drop 1-2 sugar cubes in the bottom of an Old Fashioned glass (rocks glass) and pour the dashes of bitters on top.
Mash with a muddler.
Pour the whiskey into the glass and muddle/stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Add ice (preferably a large ball or cube of ice, as this is a slow sipper and you don't want it to dilute too much) and garnish.
