The Paloma is a tasty tequila cocktail just perfect for the warm weather!

Paloma with a Spicy Salt Rim

  • 3 wedges fresh red grapefruit
  • 1 Tablespoon margarita salt yes! this exists! flaky sea salt is okay, too
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground chipotle pepper
  • 1/2 cup tequila I prefer reposado, but a blanco/silver tequila will be fine
  • 12 ounces sparkling grapefruit juice like Izze


  • Rub 1 wedge of grapefruit on half the rim of 2 highball glasses (or pint mason jars).
  • On a small plate, mix together the salt and pepper, then dip the glasses in it.
  • Fill the glasses with ice and divide the tequila and grapefruit soda between them.
  • Garnish with the remaining grapefruit wedges, sip, and enjoy!


For an extra kick, squeeze some of that remaining grapefruit and add 2 ounces of juice to each of the glasses.
