I love breakfast, but mostly when it’s prepared by someone else.
Don’t get me wrong–most of the time, I do like to bake–and even cook sometimes, too. But getting in the kitchen with your apron on, your hands full of flour, your hair full of bacon grease, defeats the whole idea of a lazy morning spent lounging. How are you relaxing if you’re in the throes of it all? And, of course, there’s the mess after. I hate cleaning and I’ve been known to eat over the sink when I don’t feel like dirtying any dishes. Sunday breakfasts rule, but mostly when I’m paying someone else to make them for me.
That’s why I need to do a better job of stocking my arsenal with quick, easy options, so I can fuel my day right, every day. I’ve started with some Smart Bagels from Toufayan Bakeries. What makes this bagel so smart? you’re probably thinking. Does it do Calculus or something? That would be pretty phenomenal, but no, Smart Bagels aren’t math whizzes. Instead, they’re bagels for those who seek the ultimate filling-to-bagel ratio without having to unhinge their jaws. Thinner than your ordinary bagel, they let you pile on the good stuff without all that bread getting in your way. Yes, I am, and will always be, a carb addict. But these have a place in my heart, too. And, with only 100 calories per serving, they help you balance a healthy diet, too!
A bagel is only as good as what you stuff it with, and this Cranberry Horseradish Cream Cheese with Walnuts will have you running for a spoon. It sounds like an odd combination, but with the sour-sweet cranberries, a little crunch from the walnuts, and the bit of bite from the horseradish, you will be addicted. My 8-year-old was sneaking spoonfuls when I ran for the camera. He can’t get enough of it. Me? I’m smearing it on everything: bagels, crackers, even Toufayan Scoop-able Pita Chips! Any vehicle possible to get more of this yum spread into my body.
Take a few minutes to whip this up today. Then tomorrow morning, when you’re still in bed and the clock reads 10 and your tummy starts to grumble, remember that breakfast is all set. Only a few minutes remain between you and sweet satisfaction.
