There’s a place near my house where people flock every spring for the photo opps. Like a reverse leaf peeping season, there exists a very small window of time when the hill is blanketed in shades of yellow, sure to brighten anyone’s day. Known as the Laurel Ridge daffodils fields in Litchfield, they were planted in 1941 by Virginia and Rémy Morosani for all to enjoy. I don’t make it out there every year–the weather may not cooperate with peak bloom, or I’m too busy and forget–but I insisted on going this year. As the kids and I wandered along the winding paths, we encountered two small snakes–one no larger than a big earthworm–and paused to take it all in. Nature is my church.
