I love random food holidays. A cause for celebration on an otherwise average day, they remind us to enjoy the little things in life, for they can bring us great joy.
August 10th is National S’Mores Day
Of course, I’d happily celebrate s’mores any day of the year, with that marriage of gooey, charred marshmallows and barely-melted chocolate squeezed between two graham cracker squares. So many wonderful textures, so many glorious flavors, all in one messy little package. The best things in life generally are a little messy, after all.
Jones Dairy Farm recently asked me to take this already fabulous flavor combination and make it even better…by incorporating bacon. How could I resist? You know I have a love affair with all things pork–and especially bacon. And that I already enjoy introducing my porky friend to my favorite desserts. This was the perfect task for me!
After mulling over–and attempting–several ideas, the one that wouldn’t leave me alone was Bacon S’Mores Popcorn. A snack you can take anywhere–no campfire required–that’s smoky and sweet with the perfect crunch. Summer in a bowl, available to you any time of year. It was love at first taste!
You can find this masterful morsel over on Jones Dairy Farm’s website. Enjoy!
I don’t care if the world is watching… I’m publicly professing my lust for this bacon-y goodness, and my outward puffy hearted affection for YOU, sweet Carrie π #ThatIsAll
Aw! Bacon brings out the best in us, doesn’t it? π
This is love at first site!! Great addition of bacon!!!
There is nothing about this recipe that I don’t like!
Thanks so much for sharing as you had me at bacon!
Bacon is the key to many hearts. π
I love this idea! Brilliant! I love variations on the s’mores basics. This summer my son did a riff of something he tried at Google I/O where he put a marshmallow on a pocky stick, then dipped it in melted chocolate and graham cracker crumbs. It was so fun. Heading over to see the recipe now!
Oooh! I like the sound of what your son did! S’mores are great no matter how you create them!
Brilliant! Why do I read these posts before lunch? Anything with bacon and this looks fantastic
