Didn’t this challenge make you wonder why we by ricotta from the grocery store? It’s SO easy to make. (And I can’t imagine they use whey from already-made cheese either!) Great challenge and post this month, Carrie!

This was such a great challenge for First on the First, Carrie! I’m sorry I didn’t get to participate- I tried making goat cheese THREE TIMES this month, and every batch failed to make anything even sort of resembling a curd, so I was forced to throw in the towel (and looking forward to reading what Kate has to say about her cheese!). So I’m way impressed that you carried through. Ricotta is one of my great loves, it’s so simple to make and it tastes a million times better than anything you can buy in the store. Very much looking forward to Candy Canes next month!

    Hi Carrie,

I was thrilled to read this article and the joy you got from making ricotta.

Making cheese at home is a passion of mine and people don’t realise just how easy it can be (and a very rewarding way to spend half a day in the kitchen!).

If any of your readers would like to take their cheese making adventure further, I have created a free eBook which is a beginner’s guide to making cheese at home. It can be downloaded on my website: http://www.homemadecheese.org where there is a ton of other information on cheese making too.

Thanks for making my day with your writing!

    Jack
