A couple weeks ago, I had a brainstorm. It was brilliant! Well…to me, anyway. I was ready to dabble in the cupcake recipes in my copy of The Magnolia Bakery Cookbook: Old-Fashioned Recipes from New York’s Sweetest Bakery. But that wasn’t enough on its own…
Enter, the Poor & Pretty cupcake…soap.
I had seen these before at Brazen Betties in Torrington, CT. I had even heard rumors of their amazing ability to fend off zombies. I resisted the urge to splurge over Christmas, dutifully spending the little cash I had on my loved ones instead. But this was a face-off that was destined to happen.
Julia, the proprietor (or is that proprietress?) of Brazen Betties was kind enough to donate one Cuckoo for Coconut cupcake for this blog post–she’s such a sweetheart! Haven’t heard of Brazen Betties before? Shame on you! This gorgeous gift shop features the work of local designers and artists–there’s something for everyone! And Julia’s bright, smiling face behind the counter makes the shopping experience all that more pleasant. π
So, which is the real cupcake?
Alright, you got me. They’re not that close. But these cupcake soaps are adorable and phthalate-free. They also boast a lack of parabens, propylene glycol, sls, or other skin irritants. Yay! Natural products that look and smell great!
The cupcakes, however, tasted better. Sorry, Sami! More on them later this week…
Carrie, you are so sweet (pun intended)! I love your blog & the photography is awesome! Thanks so much for writing about my cupcake soap. I do agree, though, they don’t taste all that great π I hope you’re loving Cuckoo for Coconut! Totally jealous of the pink cupcakes, by the way. They look delicious. I’m going to have to hit the kitchen and make some real cupcakes this weekend! xoxo
And thank you! π Love, love, love your cupcake soap! Which is just perfect since we can’t eat cupcakes every day. π
haha funny…i like cupcake soaps and fizzies!
I always want fancy soaps, and I never splurge on them! Perhaps, now I shall! π
And she just joined the Connecticut Bloggers group! LOVE her cupcake soaps–they make a great gift, or indulgence for yourself!
