First on the First

First on the First

First on the First is a culinary journey through new experiences in the kitchen. Each month, we tackle a cooking or baking feat that is new to us, sharing the results with the world. Kate at Food Babbles and I would love to have you join us!

We post on the first of the month at noon EST. In that post, we’ll also announce what the next month’s topic will be. You get to choose how you interpret the topic, which recipe you’ll use, and how you’ll adapt it to your tastes. Even if the assignment isn’t new to you, maybe there’s a new way you can make it so it will be something different. The sky is the limit! Just make sure to email me or Kate to let us know that you’re participating and we’ll send you the link code for the Blog Hop.

Don’t have a blog? You don’t have to feel left out! Simply comment on my or Kate’s post for the month and share with us your experience. We’d love to hear about it!

We hope you’ll join us!

  5. Friday Fun! March 11, 2012

[...] Happy Mother’s Day to all of the Moms, Grandmas, Aunts, Stepmom, Godmothers, and Honorary Mothers!  I hope you have a fabulous weekend planned, either doing something with or for your mom, or being treated like the queen that you are.  We are doing something that actually sounds more like a Father’s Day activity, but I am very excited.  We are taking The Bug out on The Hubby’s fishing boat.  Tomorrow I am going to go to Whole Foods to put together a gourmet picnic for us to bring.  I never get to Whole Foods because there isn’t one nearby, so this is a treat for me.  Then Sunday evening I may work up the nerve to break out the deep fryer to make some (gluten-free) churros for First on the First. [...]

  16. Hidden Ponies – Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake

[…] First on the First is a way to keep ourselves challenged in the kitchen, and this month yet again brought a recipe I knew nothing about.  Based on the fact that I say that pretty much every single month when these challenges come around, you can safely conclude that I know very little about many things!  I love that these monthly challenges have me googling and stepping out of my comfort zone in the kitchen. […]
