As you probably know by now, Google Reader will be disappearing shortly. If you’ve been using it to subscribe to your favorite blogs’ feeds, you’ll need to transfer those subscriptions to another service. And SOON! Google Reader retires on July 1, 2013–you don’t want to waste another minute!
So where do you go from here? You have a couple options:
For quite some time, I’ve used Feedly. I like the visuals and the app has worked well for me on my iPhone 4S. It always synchronized my Google Reader subscriptions and transferring them permanently was a simple one-click process. Now I won’t miss a post!
Admittedly, Bloglovin’ is new for me. I checked it out because another blogger asked if I was on there. I guess claiming your blog on Bloglovin’ makes it a little easier for others to follow it. I figured it certainly couldn’t hurt.
For ha-ha’s, I imported my Google Reader feed to Bloglovin’, too, just to see how it worked. It was, like Feedly, a quick and easy process. The display is a little cleaner and more basic, but also quite appealing.
I don’t see a huge difference between these two–either should work just fine. And, in fact, to simplify the change-over for you, I’ve added follow links for both to the sidebar. Feel free to choose for yourself!
There are definitely other options out there; it all comes down to what you like and what works best for you. Regardless, Google Reader will not be one much longer. Fair warning!
